Case study
In this case study, I designed a wealth management app for young professional Africans in the diaspora. The app provides a comprehensive overview of users' financial health, including net worth, assets, liabilities, cash flow, savings, and investments.
Process
Conducting In-Depth User Research
The design process began with in-depth user research to understand the needs and challenges of young professional Africans using wealth management platforms. This involved interviews and surveys to gather insights into their financial habits, preferences, and pain points.
Designing a Comprehensive Wealth Management App
Based on the research findings, I focused on designing a comprehensive wealth management app. This app provided users with an overview of their financial health, including net worth, assets, liabilities, cash flow, savings, investments, and their correlations, all in one place.
My Role on the Project
My role primarily involved consulting with the founder to understand the vision and goals, developing the strategy and direction for the platform, preparing the Product Requirement Document (PRD), designing and prototyping the app, and conducting user testing to gather feedback and refine the design.
The outcome of this project includes the full design and prototype of the mobile app, as well as the design of the waitlist page. The app has been handed off to developers and is currently in beta testing on iOS. This comprehensive approach ensures that the app is well-prepared for a successful launch, with a focus on user-centric design and functionality.
Anticipated Metrics: Increase in users' understanding of their financial health, and improvement in their ability to make informed financial decisions due to the actionable plans and personalized advice provided by the app
Tradeoff: Balancing the need for immediate, functional features with the long-term vision of the app's development was crucial. Some features were prioritized for initial release, while others were planned for future updates to ensure continuous improvement and user satisfaction.
