Case study
In this project case study, I will share my experience designing an e-learning platform to enhance the online learning experience for students. Addressing user pain points and improved learning efficiency and knowledge retention.
Process
Conducting in-depth user research
The design process began with in-depth user research to understand the needs and challenges of students using online learning platforms. This involved interviews and surveys to gather insights into their learning habits, preferences, and pain points.
Designing a Comprehensive Learning Dashboard
Based on the research findings, I focused on designing a comprehensive learning dashboard. This dashboard provided students with an overview of their learning activities, including current courses, completed courses, bookmarked courses, and progress tracking, all in one place.
My role on the project
I was the sole designer for this project and I reported to the Lead designer . My role primarily on the team was working significantly on the direction of the platform, gathering data insights from users directly and indirectly and making designs ready for handoff to developers.
Enhanced User Engagement: The integration of interactive features like note-taking and class forums significantly increased user engagement and participation.
Improved Learning Efficiency: Students reported a more structured and efficient learning experience due to the comprehensive learning dashboard and easily accessible resources.
Tradeoff: Balancing feature richness with simplicity and resource allocation were key considerations. Adding multiple features enhanced user engagement but introduced complexity. Prioritizing these features required careful resource allocation, potentially impacting other areas. However, addressing user pain points and enhancing the learning experience justified the focused investment.
